Dr. Abra Wright
Dr. Abra Wright grew up in East Tennessee where she raised American Quarter horses and barrel raced. She went to undergraduate and veterinary school at the University of Tennessee. After graduation in 2005, she completed a one-year equine internship at Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery in Weatherford, TX. She then completed an equine internal medicine residency and masters degree program at Kansas State University. While she enjoys all aspects of equine medicine, her primary interests are metabolic/hormone disorders, neonatal medicine, and gastrointestinal disorders.
After completion of her residency, Dr. Wright worked as an associate at Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery providing ambulatory and hospital services. While at ESMS, Dr. Wright developed a very strong interest in equine reproduction. After 4 years with ESMS, Dr. Wright accepted a position at JEH Equine Reproduction Services and Hospital, where she performed advanced reproductive procedures such as embryo transfer, semen evaluation, processing and storing frozen semen, stallion management, mare management, and ICSI. Dr. Wright provided general medicine, neonatal medicine, and herd management in addition to reproduction services while at JEH Equine Reproduction Services and Hospital. Dr. Wright joined the Burleson Equine Hospital team in September 2016. She is excited to offer her reproductive services, internal medicine knowledge, and general medicine care to the clients of BEH. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, reading, and playing with her 4 miniature dachshunds.
