Kristi Ely, BS, LVT, VTS (EVN)
Kristi has been with Burleson Equine Hospital since May 1995. She is one of the many Aggies that can be found at BEH as she graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1981. She then received her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1985 from Meridian Junior College. While working as an RN, her primary focus was emergency and critical care medicine. She brings this level of patient care and cool-headedness in emergency situations to BEH and we are extremely lucky to have someone with so much experience in the medical field. In 1997, she completed the requirements for a degree in Veterinary Technology to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, now a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She is a charter member of the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians (AAEVT) of which she served multiple positions on the executive board and now the advisory board. She is a member of the organizing committee and a charter member of the equine nursing specialty, the Academy of Equine Veterinary Nursing Technicians (AEVNT). She contributed to the laboratory section of the AAEVT ACT online equine certification program and currently serves on the executive board of the Veterinary Team Association of Texas (VTAT).
Kristi lives just south of Fort Worth in Crowley, Texas with her husband of 30+ years. She is a proud Mom to a Naval Aviator who lives with his beautiful wife and her two “grand dogs” in California. She has two extremely spoiled Australian Shepherds, Abbey and Sadie, along with four equally as spoiled horses. You can find Kristi at BEH at all hours of the day and night. She currently is in charge of all purchasing, inventory, equipment, and acts as our assistant BEH Hospital Administrator. She can work in any section of the hospital from surgery to medicine and is an invaluable asset to our team.
